A few words from Kelly
About Tallow
The pure white fat comes from around the pig’s kidneys and is often used for high end skincare, pastry making, baking and cooking. This beautiful fat is dry rendered under low temperature in the oven for approx 24 hours to remove any impurities, producing a pure white no smell oil.
The benefits of pasture raised pork lard/tallow are that it is one of the highest natural sources of Vitamin D but also rich in Vitamin A, B, E and K. But that’s not all, pasture raised pork lard/tallow is rich in Omega fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid. The fatty acid of pasture raised pork lard/tallow is very similar to human skin, even more than Beef Tallow, making it very easy for our skin to absorb naturally.
I love what I do!
I farm for a reason! It’s my life!

A day in the life of a Kunekune pig breeder
Nestled between hay, a tiny pink snout sticks out. The snout belongs to a Kunekune pig.
Wife and husband, Kelly Worthington and Jon Lendvoy have over 200 Kunekune Pigs as well as Galloway cattle on their farm located near Carstairs. Whispering Winds Farm is the second largest registered Kunekune Breeder in Canada and the first breeder in Alberta. They are also the first in Western Canada to offer Kunekune pasture pork. Kunekune pigs hail from New Zealand and have a trademark look. They are covered in coarse hair, with a stout, rotund build and have a much shorter snout that is slightly upturned, giving them an adorably cartoonish look.

A Summary
Whispering Wind Farms was the first breeder in Alberta with the sole concentration on pasture pork genetics. In 2015, Kelly Worthington and Jon Lendvoy of Whispering Wind Farms began raising the Kunekune breed which could graze and finish as efficient on forage as their 40 cow-calf pairs and grass-fed beef operation. In 2018, they grew their herd large enough to offer fresh Kunekune Pasture Pork and become the first Kunekune Pork Supplier in Alberta. Their current operation includes 20 breeding sows and a pasture pork farrowing to finish operation of over 175 head with a strong emphasis on natural hands-off maternal instincts, herd health, and breed standard. Kelly Worthington serves on the Board of Directors for the American Kunekune Pig Registry, the original registry of the Kunekune breed.toonish look.
