Let me tell you a story about how a little-known berry from Canada made a big difference in my life.
In 2021, I lost my mother to chronic health issues and was dealing with my own health struggles, including gut issues and debilitating migraines. Around the same time, my husband was investing in a new business centred around the haskap berry from the prairies of Saskatchewan - Sweet Prairie Haskap.
I started drinking the juice extract every day and quickly noticed a big difference. My energy improved, my stomach issues cleared up, and I went a whole month without a migraine. I was hooked.
So, I threw myself into promoting Sweet Prairie Haskap at farmers markets and local stores. I told anyone who would listen about how this little berry could help with everything from arthritis to fatigue to chronic pain - and people started buying it.
Customer after customer came back with stories of how much it had helped them. And now you can find Sweet Prairie Haskap at all Erewhon Markets in Los Angeles!

Keep Dreamin' Acres referred Blue Vista Orchards so thank you Gary! and now we have haskaps! From what I have found out, the haskap berries are amount the first berries to be ready each year, and I saw some great recipes with rhubarb and haskaps, in a spiced muffin or cake... very awesome! Blue Vista Orchard has fresh frozen berries available today!

The prospectors and explorers in the United States in the nineteenth century were referred to as sourdoughs as it was a practice to keep the mother leavening on your person, to make sure it didn’t freeze in the bitter winters. Personally I think that it was to get the yeast’s going, with the warmth so they would be more active and make better bread rather than as a freezing prevention measure. As a result, the bread in San Francisco was predominately sourdough, with bakeries such as the Boudin Bakery still baking today after having been founded in the mid nineteenth century.

A vegetable grower near Edson just signed on! We have been working on getting this producer for over 8 months! Can't wait to get going. They just finished doing a greenhouse clean and are asking what we might want them to grow...

As you know Sunshine Market will start up around April and is seasonal and so is Sudo Farms, who is an outdoor grower. They are almost finished with their winter veggies now.
|

We had talked to another farmer who was supposed to start last fall, but they had some serious health issues and decided to sell their business as a result.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
And there is another just grower outside Didsbury, who has winter veggies, or cold tolerant veggies, like chard etc. They will be starting their growing toward the end of Feb and product will be available late March so if everything goes well, we may have some really nice chard and spinach for you :) Can't wait!
